This 'Phily style' two family home in Medford, MA particiapted in the National Grid DER pilot, with innovative approaches to building envelope, mechanical systems and renewable energy use.
Mike Duclos of the DEAP Energy Group performed the computer modeling and qualified this project for the Affordable Comfort Inc. "Thousand Homes Challenge, Option B", which provides additional incentives, both monetary and equipment, for an extreme level of performance.
On November 20, 2012, the owner received notification that the owner's unit officially meets the 1000 Homes Challenge Option B for November 2011 through October 2012. The energy 'allowance' was 6816 KWHR/Yr and the documented use from National Grid elecricity and gas use totaled 2092 KWHR/Yr.. This home has both solar thermal heating of hot water, and PV.
